NRUGA UPAKYANAM - BRAHMANA (SATHGURU) MAHIMA
NRUGA RAJAN narrated the evil consequences of humiliating the BRAHMINS. He explained his past life to KRISHNA BHAGAVAN as follows,
" Oh! BHAGAVAN! You are all - pervasive. You remain omnipotent, omnipresent and you are dearer to all. Your compassion is infinite. Your love is abundant. You rule the universe through your un - swerved divine command. All actions lead a man towards salvation by seeking the blessings of you. Now, i humbly pray at you to dictate my mind to reveal my past life. Obeying your divine command, let me explain my past life. I gave lakhs and lakhs of cows to BRAHMINS. The cows which were given by me remained countless in numbers. Large number of BRAHMINS took part in the YAGNA. Each of them were honoured with costiliest items. The charitable work continued for many days. Thousnads and thousands of cows were kept in the cattle field. The cows were kept as a royal treasure.
A cow belonging to a BRAHMIN mixed with my cows. Unknowingly, I gave that cow to another BRAHMIN. As per the Vedic norms, a thing that was given to a BRAHMIN should never be taken back. A person who commits this sin, will experience the torture of hell. The issue remained unnoticed by me. As a ruler, I made a great mistake of snatching the wealth of a BRAHMIN.
Both the BRAHMINS came to my court. The issue was opened in the Royal Court. I commited a sin of snatching the cow of a BRAHMIN. As apunishment, I have to receive the torture of hell. I begged at the lotus feet of BRAHMINS to save my life from this DOWNFALL. The BRAHMINS were filled with true devotion. No one can judge their inner heart. Even a curse got from them will be a boon in disguise.
I requested the BRAHMINS to spare that single cow. I requested them that instead of that single cow, I would give them one lakhs cows. To this one BRAHMIN said,
" As per the Vedic norms, the belongings of a BRAHMIN should never be snatched by undue means. Knowingly or unknowingly one should not commit the sin of humiliating the BRAHMINS. You look only at the number count. So you are equating one cow to one lakh cows. But these figures will not come in the divine account. We accept poverty as a blessing in disguise. We are not greedy. We follow self - contentment from the early ages of our life. The blessings got from us will remain a permanent treasure to you. The blessings will lead you to DEVALOKAM. There you remain for a long time as you wish. The fruits of PUNYAM got from the blessings of BRAHMINS is infinite. So, on your side you can never compensate it through material mathematics. You can never purchase BHAKTHI. I will be contented to have my cow. I don't want any thing more. I will not accept any thing other than that. "
Having spoken these words, the BRAHMIN left the royal court.
Now, I (NRUGA RAJAN) requested the other BRAHMIN to accept my offerings. To this HE said,
" I want only my cow. Even if you give 10,000 more cows in addition to the 100,000 cows, I will not accept it. To me, it is of no use. I follow the principles of true devotion. My mind will yield only to unconditional divine love and not to material means. My life is ruled by BHAGAVAN, not by material leaders in the form of king. We as BRAHMINS remain indifferent to this material world. We shed out the MAYA from our mind. We will not be carried away by your trap of granting 100,000 cows in exchange to the dreadful sin commited by you. The extent of sufferings remains like a huge rock . The material offerings remains to be like sandle particles in cmparision to them. The sin commited by you is really dreadful. Knowingly or unknowingly, you caused pain in the hearts of a true BRAHMIN. I leave from this place at the earliest. "
Having spoken these words, the BRAHMIN left the royal court.
Both the BRAHMINS left the court. I commited a sin. So, I was taken to the HELL by YAMA DHOOTHA'S.
( YAMA DARMA RAJAN REMAINS NEUTRAL IN HIS JUDGEMENTS. He never follow favouritism towards any body. He remain selfless. He obeys the divine command of BHAGAVAN. He explains the fruits of PUNYA KARMA and PAPA KARMA (PUNYA KARMA - FRUITFUL ACTIONS, PAPA KARMA - FUTILE ACTIONS). Then, HE suitably dictates the soul to take a suitable form. After attaining a suitable form, the person undergoes the sufferings of HELL. The person gets purified by it. Then he / she enters in to the higher worlds of royal luxuries namely DEVALOKAM.
YAMA DARMA RAJAN asked me, " You had performed a very big YAGNA. The fruits of PUNYA KARMA got from it, remains infinite. I cannot even judge the extent of your life in DEVALOKAM. But, at the same time you had commited a sin of humiliating the BRAHMINS through your deeds. For that sin, you have to undergo the tortures of HELL. Do you want to enjoy the fruits of PUNYA KARMA at first or else PAPA KARMA?"
YAMA DARMA RAJAN asked me to chose among PUNYA and PAPA KARMA. I chosed PAPA KARMA first. I chosed the sufferings of HELL. Having listened to my words, HE dictated me to "GO DOWNFALL". On listening to the words, I found my self falling from sky. On reaching the ground, I found that my body was changed to a lizard. I became a lizard get trapped in the barren well. I remained in the barren well for a long time as a mighty lizard.
NRUGA RAJAN told to BHAGAVAN, " Oh! BHAGAVAN! you love BRAHMINS deep in your heart. You are a generous person. You do philanthropic activities. BRAHMINS receive honours from your hands. I see you as the BHAGAVAN. You are the creator of universe. You protect the worlds. You are the destroyer of evil doers. Evil minded people has to undergo sufferings of hell. Your life makes the entire world a blissful one. I was longing for a long time, to have the DARSHAN (sight) of you. My prayer was answered. The curse given by BRAHMINS were blessings in disguise. The PUNYAM gained through them fetched me good fruits of attaining MUKTHI at the lotus feet of KRISHNA BHAGAVAN. I surrendered beautiful things on to the lotus feet of BRAHMINS. But, they are all material things of finite value. But, in return to it, the blessings given by them fetched me BHAGAVAN in my presence.
BHAGAVAN dictated my life to take care of BRAHMINS. It remains a prime duty of a king to protect the welfare of BRAHMINS ultimately leading to the prosperity of the nation. Because the BRAHMINS represents the true form of boon giving tree in human form. I was fortuned to have such noble hearts in my presence during that time. Their blessings gave me a new life. I was fortuned to have the DARSHAN of BHAGAVAN only through the blessings of them. Your divine will rules my heart and soul. The blessings of BRAHMINS rule my life towards mukthi (liberation). Without passing through them, no one can enter the world of VAIKUNTAM (LIBERATION). The SATHGURU (BRAHMINS) form the bridge between devotee and BHAGAVAN.
I had the fortune of remembering my past life. It seems to be of great surprise that how come I was able to have my past memory? I feel, it might have come from the blessings of them. The reverred souls blees each and every one. I was eagerly waiting to attain liberation from this material world of illusions. On my own, I was not able to come out of that MAYA. The blessings of BRAHMINS (SATHGURU) made my path easy. Now, I am at the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN, seeing in visible human form.
NRUGA RAJAN went to YAMA LOKAM. Even YAMA DARMA RAJAN was puzzled to predict the life span of PUNYAM as given by BRAHMINS. One can see the glory of SATHGURU FROM THIS CRYSTAL CLEAR. He was asked to enjoy the luxuries of DEVALOKAM till his heart's full. Then, from there HE will not downfall to lower worlds. But, instead they will be pushed up by SATHGURU. The SATHGURU forms the ladder. One can easily climb up in the path of BHAKTHI by making use of them. At the end of their life, they will go to VAIKUNTAM of BHAGAVAN. HE will become one among the VISHNU DHOOTHA'S.

The blessings of SATHGURU will bring prosperity in all sense. One can enjoy the luxuries of this material world. Then after leaving this body, one can take divine celestial form and remain permanent in the divine abode of BHAGAVAN namely VAIKUNTAM. The blessings of them will bring enormous prosperity. In the same way, the curse received from them will bring utmost atrocity. They are sympathetic. Their heart is very soft. If, we cause pain to it, it ultimately affects the soul namely BHAGAVAN. So, this in turn brings problems. Thus the curse got from them will ruin one's life. Let our mind be tamed towards non - commitment of this dreadful sin. Let our mind be enchanted with the blessings of SATHGURU always.
We are fortuned to have our SATHGURU - POOJYA SHREE SHREE AMMA, in our presence. Let our words, deeds, actions, and thoughts be towards satisfying the wishes of our SATHGURU. NRUGA UPAKYANAM - BRAHMANA (SATHGURU) MAHIMA

Krishna Bhagavan and his friends used to play in the forest. Once four friends of Krishna Bhagavan namely SAMBAN, PRADYUMNAN, CHARUBANU and GADHAN went to forest. They were playing in the forest for a long time. After a long play, they searched for a well to quench their thirst. They roamed to different places of the forest. At last, they found a well. They peeped in to it, to look out for water. But the well was barren. There they saw an astonishing creature. It was a mighty lizard resembling like a rock. They were surprised to see the lizard in the well.
Having got pity at the lizard, they tried to pull it out from the well. They tied it with strong ropes. Having tied it to one end, they took hold of the other end. Then they pulled the rope with all their might, but in vain. They were surprised about it. They informed the issue to KRISHNA BHAGAVAN. Listening to their words, KRISHNA BHAGAVAN came there. HE took the lizard out of the well effortlessly with HIS left hand. The lizard was fortunate to have the touch of BHAGAVAN.
Immediately the lizard changed to a beautiful DEVA (Celestial incarnation). He was beautiful. His body was glittering like a molten gold of true colours. He was wearing beautiful dresses. An enchanting fragrance came from his body. KRISHNA BHAGAVAN knows every thing. HE know the past life of this DEVA. For the sake of HIS friends, BHAGAVAN asked the DEVA to narrate the story in full.
BHAGAVAN said to the DEVA, " Your body glitters like a gold. I feel, you must be one among the DEVA'S of celestial abode. You seem to be filled with divinity. But for some reason you remained as a lizard in this barren well. We are eager to know about your life. If you wish, you can share it with us. "
The DEVA prostrated on to the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN. He started narrating his story as follows.
" Oh! BHAGAVAN! You are the primordial source of creation. You know every thing. Your divine will rules the life of each and every one. Obeying your divine command, let me tell you about my self. I belong to the proud heridity of IKSHVAAKU RAJA. I was the son of him. People called me as NRUGA RAJAN. Oh! Bhagavan! You might have heard my name in the list of philanthropists, who gave abundant wealth to seers. Oh! Bhagavan! You are the soul residing in each and every one. You are the creator of universe. Without your knowledge, no worldly actions can take place. So, you know about my past life. Obeying your divine command, let me narrate about my philanthropic activities.
I was performing a very big YAGNA (Sacrifice). At the end of it, I gave infinite number of cows to the deprived people. The number of sand particles in the earth remain countless. The number of stars in the sky remain countless. Rain drops falling down from heaven to earth remains abundant. In the same way, the number of cows which were given by me remained countless. People use to describe them to be infinite.
The cows were good in shape. They were young. They were pure breed with beautiful appearence. Each of the cows was decorated with gold on their horns. All the cows were bought by me through right means without cheating any body. Each of the cows was given with their calves. They were all decorated with beautiful silk clothes on their horns. They were decorated with pure silver on their hoof. The price value of each cow remained countless, in the material sense. On a philanthropic basis, I gave lakhs and lakhs of cows to noble seers of high spiritual value.
The BRAHMINS (reverred devotee's) who received the gift, were poise in their character. They were noble souls of high spiritual value. They were given beautiful dresses. The BRAHMINS had the divine qualities like determination in devotion, selflessness, self - contentment, discipline, inner harmony and peace, pure devotion, humble and other divne qualities of utmost spiritual value. They were true embodiment of pure devotion. They lead a straight - forward life, devoid of falseness. They were following the principles of honesty without any deviation. They performed strenous meditation on to the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN. They were following the true principle s of devotion as per vedic norms. They were in their early ages of life.
They took poverty as a way of life. They welcomed poverty as a blessing in disguise. They lead a simple life. They were not priviledged to have even the basic necessities of life in the form of food, shelter and dress. All the above qualities revealed their true divinity. They were true BRAHMINS. (A critical note should be made here that, BRAHMINS DOES NOT IMPLY ANY CASTE. One who knows BRAHMAM (PRIMORDIAL SOURCE OF CREATION) in real sense through devotion is called as BRAHMIN). The YAGNA was performed in a right place in an appropriate time. The gifts were given on charity to noble souls. The 3 parameters namely time, place and the receiver remains essential in a charitable work. In the YAGNA, all the 3 parameters were maintained as per vedic norms, without any faults.
I gave them various things namely cows, lands, gold ornaments, houses, horses, elephants, several servant maids, silver vessels, silver ornaments, silk dresses, diamonds, utensils, golden chariots, nice beddings and all other necessary items to lead a happy life. The BRAHMINS never asked any thing from me. They were leading a simple life. Inspite of the sufferings of poverty, they remained firm in their devotion. Their pure devotion outbeating the worldly sufferings fetched them massive wealth. They became a billionaires from the state of paupers.
The BHAGAVAN residing in me as the soul, dictated my life towards this noble cause. I took no pride over that charitable act. Every thing went well, as per the divine wish of BHAGAVAN. I humbly prayed at the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN for granting me such a massive wealth, to share it with reverred seers. It was a very big fortune to have them in my place.
The YAGNA went well. The BRAHMINS chanted vedic hymns. Many ritual things were surrendered in the divine fire. The beautiful fragrance coming from the YAGNA spreaded to all directions. The people who inhaled it, were relived of their diseases. The sweet fragrance prevailed in the atmosphere for a long time. This indirectly benefited the plants to grow well. The trees gave beautiful fruits of high medicinal value. The medicinal fruits made the life of each and every one a blissful one.
The divine ashes left in the YAGNA were distributed to the common public, as a divine gift (PRASADAM).
The people enjoyed a true sense of divinity by virtue of the YAGNA. A part of the PRASADAM was mixed in the rivers. The rivers remained fertile always. All these true happenings made me happy always. I prostrate on to the lotus feet of the reverred seers (BRAHMINS).
The blesings of BRAHMINS (SATHGURU) remains a permanent trasure to any one. They represent the BHAGAVAN in human form. Their heart is filled with true devotion. They meditate constantly on to the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN for the welfare of mankind. They remain selfless in their words and deeds. Their glory cannot be expalined in material words. I humbly pray at their lotus feet to bless my life with pure devotion. "
NRUGA RAJAN narrated the glory of BRAHMINS (SATHGURU) in a nut shell. He continued further, to narrate the evil consequences of humiliating the reverred souls of pure devotion, namely BRAHMINS. NRUGA RAJAN praised the glory of BRAHMINS. He received the blessings of BRAHMINS. Inspite of all these glories, he became a lizard in his later life. There must be some reason for his downfall. From the state of a king, he entered in to the life of a lizard. What made him to lead a life as that of a lizard ?

Krishna Bhagavan and his friends used to play in the forest. Once four friends of Krishna Bhagavan namely SAMBAN, PRADYUMNAN, CHARUBANU and GADHAN went to forest. They were playing in the forest for a long time. After a long play, they searched for a well to quench their thirst. They roamed to different places of the forest. At last, they found a well. They peeped in to it, to look out for water. But the well was barren. There they saw an astonishing creature. It was a mighty lizard resembling like a rock. They were surprised to see the lizard in the well.
Having got pity at the lizard, they tried to pull it out from the well. They tied it with strong ropes. Having tied it to one end, they took hold of the other end. Then they pulled the rope with all their might, but in vain. They were surprised about it. They informed the issue to KRISHNA BHAGAVAN. Listening to their words, KRISHNA BHAGAVAN came there. HE took the lizard out of the well effortlessly with HIS left hand. The lizard was fortunate to have the touch of BHAGAVAN.
Immediately the lizard changed to a beautiful DEVA (Celestial incarnation). He was beautiful. His body was glittering like a molten gold of true colours. He was wearing beautiful dresses. An enchanting fragrance came from his body. KRISHNA BHAGAVAN knows every thing. HE know the past life of this DEVA. For the sake of HIS friends, BHAGAVAN asked the DEVA to narrate the story in full.
BHAGAVAN said to the DEVA, " Your body glitters like a gold. I feel, you must be one among the DEVA'S of celestial abode. You seem to be filled with divinity. But for some reason you remained as a lizard in this barren well. We are eager to know about your life. If you wish, you can share it with us. "
The DEVA prostrated on to the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN. He started narrating his story as follows.
" Oh! BHAGAVAN! You are the primordial source of creation. You know every thing. Your divine will rules the life of each and every one. Obeying your divine command, let me tell you about my self. I belong to the proud heridity of IKSHVAAKU RAJA. I was the son of him. People called me as NRUGA RAJAN. Oh! Bhagavan! You might have heard my name in the list of philanthropists, who gave abundant wealth to seers. Oh! Bhagavan! You are the soul residing in each and every one. You are the creator of universe. Without your knowledge, no worldly actions can take place. So, you know about my past life. Obeying your divine command, let me narrate about my philanthropic activities.
I was performing a very big YAGNA (Sacrifice). At the end of it, I gave infinite number of cows to the deprived people. The number of sand particles in the earth remain countless. The number of stars in the sky remain countless. Rain drops falling down from heaven to earth remains abundant. In the same way, the number of cows which were given by me remained countless. People use to describe them to be infinite.
The cows were good in shape. They were young. They were pure breed with beautiful appearence. Each of the cows was decorated with gold on their horns. All the cows were bought by me through right means without cheating any body. Each of the cows was given with their calves. They were all decorated with beautiful silk clothes on their horns. They were decorated with pure silver on their hoof. The price value of each cow remained countless, in the material sense. On a philanthropic basis, I gave lakhs and lakhs of cows to noble seers of high spiritual value.
The BRAHMINS (reverred devotee's) who received the gift, were poise in their character. They were noble souls of high spiritual value. They were given beautiful dresses. The BRAHMINS had the divine qualities like determination in devotion, selflessness, self - contentment, discipline, inner harmony and peace, pure devotion, humble and other divne qualities of utmost spiritual value. They were true embodiment of pure devotion. They lead a straight - forward life, devoid of falseness. They were following the principles of honesty without any deviation. They performed strenous meditation on to the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN. They were following the true principle s of devotion as per vedic norms. They were in their early ages of life.
They took poverty as a way of life. They welcomed poverty as a blessing in disguise. They lead a simple life. They were not priviledged to have even the basic necessities of life in the form of food, shelter and dress. All the above qualities revealed their true divinity. They were true BRAHMINS. (A critical note should be made here that, BRAHMINS DOES NOT IMPLY ANY CASTE. One who knows BRAHMAM (PRIMORDIAL SOURCE OF CREATION) in real sense through devotion is called as BRAHMIN). The YAGNA was performed in a right place in an appropriate time. The gifts were given on charity to noble souls. The 3 parameters namely time, place and the receiver remains essential in a charitable work. In the YAGNA, all the 3 parameters were maintained as per vedic norms, without any faults.
I gave them various things namely cows, lands, gold ornaments, houses, horses, elephants, several servant maids, silver vessels, silver ornaments, silk dresses, diamonds, utensils, golden chariots, nice beddings and all other necessary items to lead a happy life. The BRAHMINS never asked any thing from me. They were leading a simple life. Inspite of the sufferings of poverty, they remained firm in their devotion. Their pure devotion outbeating the worldly sufferings fetched them massive wealth. They became a billionaires from the state of paupers.
The BHAGAVAN residing in me as the soul, dictated my life towards this noble cause. I took no pride over that charitable act. Every thing went well, as per the divine wish of BHAGAVAN. I humbly prayed at the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN for granting me such a massive wealth, to share it with reverred seers. It was a very big fortune to have them in my place.
The YAGNA went well. The BRAHMINS chanted vedic hymns. Many ritual things were surrendered in the divine fire. The beautiful fragrance coming from the YAGNA spreaded to all directions. The people who inhaled it, were relived of their diseases. The sweet fragrance prevailed in the atmosphere for a long time. This indirectly benefited the plants to grow well. The trees gave beautiful fruits of high medicinal value. The medicinal fruits made the life of each and every one a blissful one.
The divine ashes left in the YAGNA were distributed to the common public, as a divine gift (PRASADAM).
The people enjoyed a true sense of divinity by virtue of the YAGNA. A part of the PRASADAM was mixed in the rivers. The rivers remained fertile always. All these true happenings made me happy always. I prostrate on to the lotus feet of the reverred seers (BRAHMINS).
The blesings of BRAHMINS (SATHGURU) remains a permanent trasure to any one. They represent the BHAGAVAN in human form. Their heart is filled with true devotion. They meditate constantly on to the lotus feet of BHAGAVAN for the welfare of mankind. They remain selfless in their words and deeds. Their glory cannot be expalined in material words. I humbly pray at their lotus feet to bless my life with pure devotion. "
NRUGA RAJAN narrated the glory of BRAHMINS (SATHGURU) in a nut shell. He continued further, to narrate the evil consequences of humiliating the reverred souls of pure devotion, namely BRAHMINS. NRUGA RAJAN praised the glory of BRAHMINS. He received the blessings of BRAHMINS. Inspite of all these glories, he became a lizard in his later life. There must be some reason for his downfall. From the state of a king, he entered in to the life of a lizard. What made him to lead a life as that of a lizard ?
